Moulay Idriss Zerhoune is located just 20 km from Meknes , 1 ½ hours from Fez, 2 hours from Rabat and public transport is easy and cheap to bring you safely to Dar Zerhoune.
The grand taxi journey from Meknes to Moulay Idriss Zerhoune is the most efficient and cost effective way to get to Dar Zerhoune, as well as a wonderful journey. In 20 minutes you will travel out of Meknes through green valley’s, olive groves, past donkey’s pulling carts, a sacred spring, local’s working in the farms, sunflower fields and white villages dotted around the hillside. You will see signs for Volubilis and Moulay Idriss and as you round the bend you see the beautiful sight of Moulay Idriss Zerhoune – a whitewashed city surrounded by mountains and holding a commanding view over the valley and the roman ruins of Volubilis. It will take your breath as you absorb it all in – welcome to your home.
Dar Zerhoune is a few minutes walk through the markets from the grand taxi stand. You can follow the directions below or ask a local to point you in the right direction. We are close to the main square, mausoleum and view panoramic, a fantastic location for you to enjoy your stay.
For transport to Volubilis a place in a grand taxi costs 5Dh from Moulay Idriss and will take about 10 minutes, or you can walk past olive groves, hills and countryside in an easy 45 minutes. Moulay Idriss is a great base for your exploring.
